ANASTASIA STOTSKAYA
THE WINNER OF THE INTERNATIONAL SONG CONTEST
"NEW WAVE - 2003" IN JURMALA

"The whole world was telling Roxie "No", but it keeps saying "Yes" to me and all the doors seem to be opening up" - after this pronouncement Anastasia Stotskaya, the singer/actress that portrayed Roxie Hart, the lead role in the first ever Broadway musical to hit the Russian stage - CHICAGO, knocks on wood, just in case. Today Anastasia is one the brightest up and coming stars in Russia. "I think everything that's been happening in my life lately can be summed up with the key phrase from Chicago - ALL THAT JAZZ".

The character portrayed by Stotskaya dreamed of stardom. When she stepped onto the stage of the Estrada Theater in Moscow the audiences lived the role with her, commiserating with her, being happy and sad with her, wanting her Roxie to have the happiness, fame and success she desired. Dreams became reality for the Roxie's alter-ego. Now Anastasia's concerts energize venues all over Russia and Europe to booming ovations.

Anastasia, as her friends call her, is a perfectionist. If she set her mind on something, she has to do it better than anyone else. Stylish and graceful, with unique vocal ability (she can sing in 3 octaves), extraordinary voice that can change from low, deep blues to a high, clear, resounding pitch which allows Anastasia to perform serious compositions as well as pop music.

The first song recorded by Anastasia under the guiding hand of Russia biggest superstar Philip Kirkorov, was almost an autobiographical composition called "Music and I" (2003). It reveals the essence of Anastasia's personality: she loves and is loved in return, her heart sings and her soul lives through the music. Her next effort "Veny-Reki" ("Rivers-Veins") became an instant hit, topping radio and hit parade charts (2003). After her successful entry into Russian popular music Anastasia decided to do something quite different and recorded a classic American standard, Frankie Valli's "Can't take my eyes off you", which Englebert Humperdinck, who was visiting Moscow at the time, said was one of the most moving and powerful renditions of the song that he has heard in a long time.

The pivotal and defining moment of the breakthrough to the masses, was the a career making 1st place winning performance at the one the most prestigious international song contests in Europe "New Wave-2003" in Jurmala. Anastasia wowed the judges with her fantastic interpretation of her hit "Veny-Reki". The venue was thundering with deafening applause and appreciation for a job well done. The next day, red head Anastasia's trademark haircut was being requested in all the salons in the country. She set trend.

The biggest surprise of the "New Wave-2003" was the debut of Anastasia's duet with her producer and biggest supporter Philip Kirkorov called "Vlyublenaya Dusha" ("A Soul in Love") which scored another ovation from the audience and right away became her signature song. Philip, always a great judge of talent, asked his young protege to tour with him for his "The Best Of:" World Tour, during which the young star proved herself to be holding her own, energizing audiences and capturing their hearts with her high voltage performances (2003-2004).

Next came the long awaited video of "Veny-Reki" which set MTV Russia rotation records and made Anastasia Stotskaya the 2003 Face of MTV.

Although Anastasia's meteoric rise in popular music was what people around her called "magic", she was still looking for something that would satisfy her as an actress. It came in a form of an invitation to play Susanna, one of the lead roles in a musical film "The Marriage of Figaro".

In the beginning of 2004, Anastasia presented her fans with a new song called "Give me 5 Minutes", the video for which was filmed in St. Petersburg with 50 of the hottest Russian models, Modern Ballet "Todes", Dance group "Retsital" and a very special $45,000 exclusive limited edition watch, decorated with 741 diamonds called "Diva" by "Carl F. Bucherer", that arrived from Switzerland on a private jet with its own security.

After barely finishing the video, Anastasia found out that another song she recorded with Philip Kirkorov "And you will tell", a scandalous duet with risque lyrics, which at first radio stations refused to play, started climbing the charts on its way to becoming another super hit for Nastya. Three days later she was filming another video with Philip.

On February 29, 2004, "Carl F. Bucherer" Company, "Council" Group, "Bristol" Merchants and "Philip Kirkorov Productions" presented Anastasia Stotskaya's new video "Give me 5 minutes". The biggest stars of Russian show business, theater, television and sports attended the presentation. A very pleasant surprise was a visit from the vice-president of "Carl F. Bucherer", George Monstein. During her last interview Anastasia confessed: "I was always indifferent to diamonds, until I saw them on Bucherer's watch "Diva". Beauty like that could make any woman go insane. "Diva" became my talisman and I'm never without it"

"Give me 5 minutes" debuted on MTV on March 1st, 2004 and became an instant hit with viewers. Anastasia, meanwhile was successfully touring Israel with Philip and conquering the Israeli audiences.

April 2004 - third video of Anastasia Stotskaya - duet with her producer Philip Kirkorov - "Y ty skazhesh" ("And You'll Say").

September 2004 - Anastasia records the "Tease" song in London (Studio "I Am Production", Producer: Colin Emmanuel/Rupert Parkes)

January 2005 - Anastasia arrives to Greece and records songs "Shadows dance all around me" (music - Dimitris Contopoulos, lyrics - Dimitris S.). The final recording and mastering were made in Athens, London and Moscow.
